What's your favorite brand, and why? I started off with Garmin and got used to the mapping on it. I recently added 2 Lowrance units and it's been a bit of a learning curve. I added a CMAP Reveal card and it made some difference, but things like navigation don't seem as good as Garmin. I definitely like the downscan and livescope of Garmin, and really just the side scan of Lowrance, I've never tried a Humminbird unit. Curious to hear what everyone's favorites are and what specifically you like about it vs others.
I’ve used Lowrance, Hummingbird and Garmin down through the years. I think Garmin has the easiest software to learn how to navigate followed by Lowrance the Hummingbird. Hummingbird bird has great side and down imaging. Lowrance isn’t as great a picture in my experience but you can still find a lot of fish using them. FFS is really what got Garmin in the competition and theirs is the one I use. For everything else however I’m sticking with Hummingbird. You’re not going to beat Lakemaster mapping unless you’re on an uncharted water body then that’s where Hummingbird’s Auto Chart Live comes into play.
When you get the one boat network app for your hummingbird units you can study lake contour maps from home. When you’ve spent hours and hours graphing lakes the one boat network can help save you time by studying the contour maps ahead of time before you get to the lake. In my opinion Hummingbird offers the best total package for bass anglers.
